Workshop Description
Intensive 4 week course for beginners and improvers. 4 x Mondays 10.00-2.00 Mon 26th Jan Mon 2nd Feb Mon 9th Feb Mon 16th Feb This is a 4 week intensive course offering an introduction to some of the most useful and practical methods and techniques required to create beautiful, contemporary mosaics for the home and garden. Methods will include direct, indirect, working on mesh, using traditional and found materials, working on both 2D and 3D surfaces. You will also learn about different substrates and adhesives to help you make informed decisions about your future projects. Through a series of demonstrations, sample projects and homework, you will have the opportunity to learn a range of skills and techniques used to create your own contemporary mosaics. You will also have the opportunity to receive 1:1 guidance/tutorial on an individual project to work on at home. Week 1: Cutting and shaping a variety of different materials. Preparation of substrates Selecting appropriate materials Health and Safety Week 2: Visual research for individual project. Application methods for 2D projects: -Direct -Indirect -Mesh Week 3: Application methods for 3D projects Found and natural materials Week 4: Grouting Fixings Finishing touches Plan individual project Progression: PAYG: Personal Projects Basic tools and equipment will be provided for use in workshop. Materials supplied for completing samples. Materials not included for individual project, but advice and guidance given. Materials, tools and equipment available to purchase for individual project. Refreshments provided, but please bring a packed lunch. Full payment will secure your place on a workshop. If for any reason you need to cancel, you will be offered the opportunity to transfer to another workshop (if there is space). Please give as much notice as possible, so that another student may have the opportunity to take your place. There is often a waiting list. If a replacement student is found the charges below will not apply. 26+ days- 100% refund -minus £4 admin charge 25-16 days-75% refund 15-6 days- 50% refund Less than 6 days- 0% refund Please note that venues other than Lockwood, Guildford have their own cancellation policy
